Here in Angus, fishing and angling offer challenges and satisfaction, on the rivers, lochs, seas and shores. Two of the major rivers are The River North and The River South Esk. Fishing is provided for most abilities. The season running from spring till the autumn.
The North Esk has superb salmon fishing, and it is a great sport. The season for the North Esk salmon fishing is from the 16th February until the 30th October.
This is a first class river for salmon and sea trout.
Angus - experience shore fishing, from stunning beaches, from fabulous cliff scenery, or even by charter boat. From June to mid October, catch dab, flounder and plaice on the estuaries and beaches, using worm bait and codling and wrasse from the kelp grounds best caught using peeler crab. From August till November fish from Arbroath for cod coalfish, flounder and pollock. The best time for catching cod,large flounder or school bass is November through to mid February. Conditions to look for when catching bigger fish are strong winds which are a strong easterly or a northerly wind.
