| Letham Grange – Old Course |
 |
We are situated to take advantage of more than 60 golf courses in the Tayside area, including the famous championship courses, such as St. Andrews and Carnoustie. Letham Grange golf course is tucked away in beautiful Angus countryside north-west of Arbroath, it sports two golf courses surrounding a fine country hotel. Every golf course has something to offer – Letham Grange old course perhaps more than most.
The ‘Old’ with no two holes the same, is surely one of the more demanding parklands in Scotland. The most common factor of the course is the burn that appears no less than thirteen holes coming into play, in one form or another, on most of them... |
|
The course plays all of its, 6,632 yards and if it has been damp with no roll to the fairways it demands fair and punctilious blows to reach the greens in regulation. The 2nd hole is memorable mainly for its lovely pond and weir. The following two holes form an excellent run, this perhaps the best part of the course. The 3rd is stretching Par 5 – dog-legging left while the 4th plays an elevated tee to a safe landing area ahead of a long lob across another wide pond.
For those not used to it, Letham Grange Old course can be a fair old plod on foot so therefore the Pro-Shop offers rentals of Golf Carts to make it more manageable. Just make sure you don’t crash into one of the many stones of Good Fortune peppered around the and blessed by a Zen Buddhist priest. The new course is a fair bit easier at only 5,528 yards a good 1000 yards shorter than the Old with none of the hazards. It has six Par3’s. |
